Steven William VanDyke — UPDATED
Steven William VanDyke, 67, Warsaw, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, in his home in Warsaw. He was born Jan. 14, 1955, to Marion (Wydra) VanDyke in Chicago, Ill. On Nov. 19, 1982, he married Ellen Fay Prater; she preceded him in death on June 23, 2010.
Steve grew up in Chicago and had lived in Arkansas and Nebraska prior to Indiana. He owned and operated Specialty Tree Service since 2004 with his son, Chris. Steve also enjoyed fishing, hunting, trimming trees and woodworking. He truly loved being with his family, spending time with the Lord and reading his Bible. He was always there for his family and would do anything he could for them. Steve always put everyone else before himself.
Steve is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (Gary) Konkle, Warsaw; two sons, Chris (Brenda Schanbacher) VanDyke and Mike (Jenifer Morehead) VanDyke, both of Warsaw; three grandchildren, Steven E. VanDyke, Deklan Konkle and Isaac Konkle; two sisters, Bonnie Slansky, Nebraska and Susan Strickland, Arkansas; and a very special friend, Sherri Kelich, Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Fay VanDyke; his mother; and five siblings, Margie, Penny, Fran, Nick and John.
No public visitation or services are planned at this time. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at a later date.
