Patrol US 30
Dear Editor,
With more and more traffic especially semi’s on US 30 why, can’t WPD patrol it. Is it really that hard to have a patrol car sitting coming into Warsaw on both the east and west ends of 30? Or maybe even one somewhere in the middle to slow traffic but most of all to keep semi’s in the right lane.
The worse times are morning and 5 p.m. rush. The 5 p.m. is the worst, there are at least one to three semi’s riding the left lane. I understand they get over on the bypass to let cars merge. They don’t however need to stay in the left lane all the way through. The only time you’ll see WPD on 30 is after there has been a accident, and that’s only for a day or two.
To the mayor and chef of police what is so important in the town of Warsaw that you can’t have officer’s on 30?
Also SR 15N in the morning (or really anytime of day) at the Walmart stop light is horrible! It’s a race once that light turns green and there’s cars in both lane’s, it’s a race for the cars in the right lane to try and cut off the cars in the left. I travel SR 15N every morning and I’m waiting for a accident or to be involved in one at that light. If your in that big of a hurry, you need to leave earlier or take the back roads.
Warsaw is growing and with that there needs to be changes with law enforcement and the way the patrol or lack of. Way to many accidents on US 30 because of speed and semi’s. What’s it going to take someone with power getting killed or one of their family members to get something done?
Yes, I know there has been meetings about “what to do” but, until they figure it out WPD needs to step up and do the job they are being paid to do. I also know there has been a shortage of officers, but now it’s pretty staffed. So what’s the excuse?
Take the bus accident recently. Dispatched was notified in Columbia City about the truck driver, yet he kept driving through Larwell, Pierceton and almost through Warsaw, which he probably would of made it through if he hadn’t hit a bus. Where was the cops before he reached Warsaw? Honestly I hope the families go after those police departments also for neglect (maybe that’s not the right word, but you know what I mean) There was no reason the semi driver reached Warsaw..
Hopefully something is done and done soon before it gets worse and more accidents happen.
Oh FYI it does no good what so ever to call 911 when there’s an impaired driver, for one you never see a cop and two the cop has to see the impaired driver in order to stop them. I was told that by a dispatch. So why bother calling.
I know I went off track, I hope things change instead of more accidents and deaths.
