Osceola Man Arrested For Illegal Drug, Firearm Possession

CROMWELL — An Osceola man was arrested for illegal drug and firearm possession after a traffic stop.
Damian Lee Cassidy, 24, Osceola, is charged with possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances and unlawful carrying of a handgun, both level 5 felonies; possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia with a sentence enhancement, both class A misdemeanors; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Dec. 12, 2022, an Indiana State trooper noticed a vehicle in the Cromwell area cross the center line of a road. The trooper pulled the vehicle over and identified its driver as Cassidy.
According to court documents, the trooper noticed a handgun laying on the vehicle’s passenger seat. Cassidy later admitted that he was a felon. While searching Cassidy’s person, the trooper found synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A K9 unit at the scene also alerted to illegal substances in the vehicle.
Upon searching the vehicle, the trooper found drug paraphernalia, marijuana, meth, a rifle, and a handgun magazine.
Cassidy has prior convictions for auto theft, synthetic drug possession, counterfeiting, paraphernalia possession, and controlled substance possession.
Cassidy has been released on his own recognizance.
