WARSAW — A lease agreement for renting office space for Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory’s administrative staff has been approved.
WWFT’s board approved the agreement during a Jan. 3 meeting. The office is located just west of Warsaw’s City Hall at 119 W. Center St., Suite B. Lease payment will be $1,000 per month, with the annual amount already being budgeted for by WWFT. The lease agreement was approved by the City’s Board of Public Works and Safety on Dec. 16.
WWFT will have the option to renew the space in October for the 2024 year.
In other business, the board also approved two travel requests for Community Assistance, Resources and Emergency Services Coordinator Mikaela Bixler. The requests relate to two training sessions connected to mental health, with both sessions taking place in Fort Wayne later in January.
EMS Chief Chris Fancil said the first session would allow Bixler to become certified as a Question, Persuade and Refer trainer.
“We just want her to become a trainer in it,” said Fancil. “It’s really good information, and then she can train the rest of (the firefighters).”
The second training session is designed to increase general knowledge of individual crisis intervention techniques.
The board also:
- Was administered their oaths of office by WWFT Attorney Andrew Grossnickle.
- Appointed Shirley Fetrow to continue as recording secretary.
- Appointed Grossnickle to continue as fire territory attorney.
The board’s next meeting is at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Warsaw City Hall.
