Sanchez Patino Arrested After Fleeing From Officers
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw teenager was arrested after allegedly fleeing from officers at speeds over 150 miles per hour.
Osbaldo Sanchez Patino, 19, 1604 Dot St., Warsaw, is charged with resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony; and reckless driving, a class C misdemeanor.
On Dec. 18, a Warsaw Police officer was on patrol when he noticed a dark red Dodge Charger speeding on Detroit Street. The officer began following the Charger onto Lake City Highway, clocking the Charger’s speed at 68 mph in a 50 mph zone.
According to court documents, the Charger then quickly accelerated near Parker Street, with its speed increasing to 100 mph. The officer pursued the vehicle, but the Charger continued speeding, changed lanes multiple times, and passed other vehicles. At one point, the Charger’s speed was over 150 mph on Lake City Highway. The officer lost sight of the vehicle near CR 450E and continued to SR 13.
A second Warsaw officer joined the pursuit and found the Charger in the area of Old Road 30 and CR 300E. There were three occupants in the vehicle, and Patino was seated in the vehicle’s front passenger seat. An unnamed female individual was in the vehicle’s driver’s seat. All three of the occupants denied fleeing from law enforcement.
Patino later admitted to driving the Charger during the pursuit and said he switched seats with the female. He said he fled from law enforcement because he was scared and thought he was going to jail.
Patino has already been arrested and released on bond.
