WARSAW — A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the majority of northern Indiana.
The warning is in effect for Kosciusko County and surrounding areas from 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, to 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 24.
According to the National Weather Service of Northern Indiana, moderate to heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. Winds will gust as high as 50 mph.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact holiday travel. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches and cause power outages. The dangerously cold wind chills of 20 below to 30 below zero will cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
A Blizzard Warning is in effect for the northwestern portion of Indiana from 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, to 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 24.
