CLAYPOOL — Jacob Metzger has filed his candidacy for Clay Township trustee.
Metzger is hoping to fill the vacancy left by Republican Helen Brown, whose resignation is effective Saturday, Dec. 31. A caucus is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Claypool Lions Building.
Metzger told InkFreeNews that serving in the role would be a way for him to help his community directly.
“It’s an opportunity to work with people I know,” he said.
Metzger has resided in the area his whole life, save for four years in which he left to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard. He also has public service experience through his time spent as a Warsaw Police officer.
He now works for his family’s business, Metzger Trucking of Silver Lake, as a general laborer and mechanic and doing whatever else needs to be done.
He’s lived in his house in Clay Township for about three years. Metzger has been married to Linda Metzger since 2014 and they have four kids and one on the way.
