Kosciusko County Lawmakers To Serve On Key House Committees
News Release
STATEHOUSE — State Reps. Dave Abbott (R-Rome City) and Craig Snow (R-Warsaw) recently received appointments to serve on key House standing committees at the Statehouse.
House standing committee appointments are made by the Indiana House Speaker biennially after the November election and are in effect for the duration of members’ two-year terms. Abbott was reappointed as vice chair of the House Natural Resources Committee, and as a member of the House Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee and the House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee. He was also appointed as Assistant Majority Caucus Chair, a House Republican leadership position.
“Public testimony is a very important part of the legislation process,” Abbott said. “I urge anyone with a stake in possible legislation to come testify in these committees and have their voice heard.”
Snow will serve as vice chair of the House Insurance Committee, and as a member of the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee. He said committees will begin meetings at the start of the 2023 legislative session.
“Committees play an important role in the legislative process as they are responsible for vetting bills, gathering input from the public and stakeholders and considering amendments,” Snow said. “I look forward to diving into issues and finding solutions to help lower health costs and support our local farm families, Hoosier workers and small businesses.”
House lawmakers are scheduled to convene for session at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 9. Hoosiers can visit iga.in.gov to find legislation, view calendars and watch committee meetings and session.
