WARSAW — Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice wants people to know that it’s OK not to feel happy during the Christmas season due to loss.
That’s why it is having a Blue Christmas Service again. The event will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 424 W. Market St., Warsaw.
“This has been done for at least 10 years under the auspices of Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice,” said volunteer with the organization Bob Jarboe. “Each year there are those who are not in a celebrative mood due to a loss: loved one, marriage, job, home, pet, etc.”
Jarboe noted the service will be on the longest night of the year. It will be half an hour and include prayer, litany, candlelight and a brief meditation by Father Ryan Fischer.
“The attendees (come) and leave in silence so that they may be in their own thoughts and prayers at this time,” said Jarboe.
“It is hoped that attendees will feel comfort and acceptance at this time … that it’s ok that they don’t feel like celebrating the Christmas season,” he continued. “God’s grace continues to accept and them and love them because He understands.”
