Jeannine Nellans
Jeannine Nellans, 91, Mentone, died at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at Mason Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
Jeannine was born June 10, 1931, in Mentone, to the late Peter and Mary Lena (Busenburg) Blue. She married on Dec. 17, 1964, in Mentone, to Dean C. Nellans, Jr., who preceded her in death March 8, 2016.
She was a graduate of Mentone High School in 1948. She furthered her education at the LaSalle School of Interior Design. She then became an interior designer for many homes and offices around the Warsaw area. Jeannine was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion of Warsaw, where she served as past-president of the Women’s Auxiliary. Jeannine was the organizer for the Memorial Day service at the Mentone Cemetery for many years.
Jeannine was a community-minded person. She helped at the Mentone Nutrition Site and assisted in the planning of the Mentone Egg Festival for many years. Jeannine was a proud member of the Scrambled Egg Band. She enjoyed mowing the lawn, but most of all, she loved her family. She looked forward to seeing all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Sherry (Stan) Pequignot, Winona Lake, Kathy (Lloyd) Morgan, Akron, Randy (Aimee) Nellans, Rochester and Rusty (Kelly) Nellans, Mentone; 15 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dean; a stepson Sonny Nellans; brothers Donald Blue and Royal Blue; and sisters Jeannette Baker and Phyllis Secrist.
The funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Denny Bollenbacher officiating.
The interment will take place in the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone, next to her husband of 51 years, Dean.
Visitation hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the American Legion Post No. 49.
