David Melton — UPDATED
David Andrew Melton Jr., known to most as “Drew,” 57, Warsaw, died at 2:48 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, after a brief illness at Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital.
Born July 20, 1965, in Warsaw, Drew was the son of David Melton Sr. and Nancy (Biddle) Melton. He was a 1984 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and went on to work in the automotive trades.
Drew loved cars of all kinds, especially classic cars. He was a mechanic by trade and was teaching auto mechanics through Warsaw Schools’ partnership with Global Auto. He rarely knew a stranger and was friendly to all. He was history buff and a proud patriot, and he loved music of all kinds.
A veteran himself, Drew served two enlistments with the U.S. Navy, one in his younger life and one during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was honorably discharged in both instances and was a proud Seabee.
In addition to many friends and a large extended family, those who survive with memories to cherish include six children, Zach Frantz, New York, Dana Heath, Virginia, Ashley Shepherd, Warsaw, Nikole (Ryan) McCarthy, South Bend, Britny Melton, Mishawaka and Kyleigh Melton, Mishawaka . He is further survived by brother, Nick (Amy) Melton, Warsaw; father, David Melton Sr., Warsaw; two nephews, Griffin and Brenden Melton; and 15 grandchildren.
Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, is entrusted with Drew’s care. A memorial service will be held from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022. A service which celebrates Drew’s life will begin at 5 p.m. with military honors to follow.
