Turkey Lurkey Walk/Run Begins Busy Saturday In Winona Lake

WINONA LAKE — The annual Turkey Lurkey 5k walk/run will kick off a festive, busy Saturday in Winona Lake.
The walk/run begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, and consists of a race through the Winona Lake Trails and is open to racers, runners, and walkers.
All net funds will go to support Combined Community Services’ operations and programs.
The event appeals to both the serious runner/walker and those who participate for fun.
Day of race registration will be held at Winona Lake Community Center beginning at 8 a.m.

Other activities in Winona Lake include a free public skate from noon to 8 p.m. on the opening day of the new ice rink at Miller Sunset Pavilion on Park Avenue across from the lake. Saturday’s grand opening coincides with The Village at Winona’s tree lighting ceremony and other Christmas events.
The annual tree lighting ceremony will happen 6:15-6:30ish p.m., said The Village Managing Director Nick Hauck.
There will be train rides around the island from 3:30 to about 6 p.m., he said. Other activities will also occur.
The skating rink is operated by the town.
