Man Arrested After Illegally Possessing Firearm, Drugs

NAPPANEE — An Indianapolis man was recently arrested after illegally possessing a firearm and drugs.
Casper Darwin Meade, 58, Indianapolis, is charged with possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a level 4 felony; possession or use of a legend drug, a level 6 felony; driving while suspended, a class A misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Nov. 6, a Nappanee Police officer was in the area of SR 19 and CR 1350N when he saw a speeding Ford F350. The officer pulled the vehicle over and identified its driver as Meade.
According to court documents, the officer discovered Meade had a driving status of suspended prior with an indefinite reinstatement date. Upon searching Meade’s person, the officer found a vape pen with liquid residue. Meade said the vape pen contained THC.
While searching Meade’s vehicle, the officer found 26 pills that are prescription-only medications, three THC vape cartridges, and a loaded handgun with eight rounds of ammunition.
Meade denied any knowledge of the handgun, pill, and vape cartridges; he admitted to being a felon.
For this case, Meade was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 6.
