On Oct. 24, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a domestic dispute in Warsaw. The deputy spoke with a man who said Cortes had been drinking and began yelling at a relative.
According to court documents, when the man told Cortes to stop yelling at the relative, Cortes allegedly hit the man on the right side of his face. After being struck, the man began to wrestle with Cortes, which resulted in the man’s finger being cut on a broken bottle that was on the ground.
Cortes then jumped up, pulled out a large pocket knife, and threatened the man while holding the knife.
