Evelyn Jeanne Pfeifer — UPDATED
Evelyn Jeanne Pfeifer, 99, Winona Lake, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at home in Winona Lake.
She was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Morrow County, Ohio, to Anna Hazel (Galleher) Addlesperger and Fred William Addlesperger. On July 18, 1946, she married Harold Edward Pfeifer, and they were blessed with three children.
As a child and young adult, Evelyn was a member of the Church of Christ and a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, where she served as a deaconess. In her later years, she watched online Warsaw Community Church and Winona Lake Free Methodist Church.
After graduating from Chesterville High School in 1941, she worked in a war plant, wiring relays during WWII. Evelyn also worked as a receptionist and desk clerk for the Free Methodist Church conference center, but she spent her life caring for her family and was a wonderful homemaker.
She will be remembered as one who loved deeply, gave abundantly and served her Lord and Savior Jesus with all her heart. Hers was a quiet spirit that lived what she believed with kindness, compassion and inner strength. The Bible calls it, “The peace that surpasses all understanding.” She nourished those around her with love, selflessness and a calm, steady presence. Her Christian faith was evident to all who knew her.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Jeff Pfeifer, Winona Lake; two daughters, Virginia A. Pfeifer and Janice I. Pfeifer, both of Winona Lake; her sister, Esther Baldock, Cashmere, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her former husband; two sisters, Lenore Brockett and Lolita Burns; and four brothers, Arvene, Virgil, Leland and Howard Leslie Addlesperger.
Evelyn’s life will be celebrated with a graveside service at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
