Phyllis Wilkey — UPDATED
Phyllis J. Wilkey, 85, a longtime resident of Warsaw, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, quietly in the care of her family at home in Warsaw.
Born May 4, 1937, in Terre Haute, Phyllis was the daughter of Richard L. and Gladys Mae (Whitaker) Leeth. She grew up in Vigo County and graduated from Honey Creek High School, where she was top of her class. She was a cheerleader in her school days and went on to attend Grace College.
Phyllis learned the value of hard work at an early age. She worked at Soda Fountain when she was young and spent much of her professional career working in commercial printing. Locally, she worked for R.R. Donnelley and Sons. She also worked in printing in Phoenix, Ariz. and Chicago, Ill.
Phyllis loved animals, especially dogs. She enjoyed visiting with the neighbors and passing treats from her porch to the dogs in her neighborhood. She loved to laugh and spend time with family; she had a phenomenal sense of humor. She enjoyed sports of all kinds but was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers.
Those who survive with memories to share include her daughter, Cindy Elliott, Warsaw; grandchildren, Jack Lowe, Prescott, Ariz., Brandon (Hannah) Elliott, Phoenix, Ariz., Cortney Elliott, Indianapolis and Ryan Lowe, Chicago, Ill.; sister, Patty (John), Orange County, Calif.; and brother, Michael (Suzette) Leeth, Aurora, Ill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by daughter, Kimberly S. Cretcher; grandson, Shawn Cretcher; and two sisters, Barbara Leeth and Nancy Schultz.
Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with the care of Phyllis. A Life Celebration gathering is planned from 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, in The Taharaa Room at Noa Noa Restaurant, 310 Eastlake Drive, Warsaw.
