AKRON — The Tippecanoe Valley School Board has approved using additional bond money to renovate Tippecanoe Valley High School.
At a special meeting on Monday, Nov. 7, at the Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. administration office, the TVSC Board approved using up to $10 million in bonds to finance the project, which is planned to start in April 2023.
As TVSC Superintendent Blaine Conley mentioned at the first bond hearing Oct. 31, the project will include “a new auditorium with student collaboration areas, a pool renovation, exterior facade improvements, expanded agriculture classrooms/labs, new and renovated locker rooms, a new weight room and multipurpose room/wrestling room.”
The additional bond amount approved Monday will be added on to bonds of $16,210,000 that Valley already has to pay for the renovation. Conley reiterated again at Monday’s meeting that the tax rate should remain “neutral” with the renovation project.
Also Monday, the TVSC Board approved an agreement with the Tippecanoe Valley Classroom Teachers’ Association and several related salary measures.
As a result of those, the starting salary for teachers with a bachelor’s degree will be $44,175.
