Milford Public Library — Puzzles And Cake Pans Available For Checkout
News Release
MILFORD — Fall story times are happening now at Milford Public Library. In-person story times take place at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays and are geared for children ages 3-6. This is a great opportunity to expose your children to the joy of reading, plus fun arts and crafts activities and a weekly snack. Story times happen at the Milford Public Library downstairs in the meeting room across from the children’s department.
This week’s theme is “Let’s Get Cooking.” They will be sharing stories about yummy foods and discovering fun ways to prepare them. Make sure you remember to bring your favorite family recipes to share with others. If you missed last week, please stop by the library to pick up a recipe sheet to use. Register your child for story time in the children’s department. This will be a super fun week with a yummy theme, so you don’t want to miss it.
Puzzles
As the weather is getting colder, there is less to do outside. And more of us are ready to curl up inside where it is warm. Of course, one indoor activity is reading a good book. But another option for a fun indoor activity is putting together puzzles.
Did you know that you can borrow puzzles from the library for free? In the fall and winter months, the library has a collection of puzzles that can be borrowed and then returned after use. You don’t even need a library card. Borrowing puzzles is on the honor system — if you take a puzzle, bring a puzzle back. It’s that simple.
No time limit and no checkouts are necessary. Just take a puzzle to enjoy and bring it back. The library is always taking puzzle donations as well, so if you’ve finished a good puzzle, give it to the library and let someone else enjoy it after you. And while you’re at it, take another puzzle for yourself. What a fantastic way to share the puzzle love.
Cake Pans For Holiday Baking
The holidays are approaching and nothing says holidays like copious amounts of cooking and baking. While you are preparing your next holiday meal, don’t forget: The library has cake pans available for checkout.
The library has dozens of different cake pans in a variety of shapes, including a bell, an angel, a lamb, a snowman, a graduation hat, a shining star, a candy cane, Santa Claus, a teddy bear and so many more.
Just think of the fun Christmas party you could have with a Santa Claus cake as a centerpiece. Or create a fun gingerbread village with a candy cane cake as a side item. Even beyond Christmas time, a lamb cake at Easter is classic, a graduation hat would make a great addition to any senior’s party in May, and what child’s birthday party is complete without a fun cake full of candles to blow out?
Many of these cake pans even include pictures with decorating ideas, although you are always welcome to exercise your own creativity in cake decorating. So take your holiday and special event baking up a notch and try your hand at baking a cake in a fun shape and decorating it.
