Brett Denney — UPDATED
Brett Lee Denney, 64, longtime resident of North Webster, died peacefully and accompanied by family Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at Parkview Randallia Hospital, Fort Wayne, after suffering a stroke.
Born June 29, 1958, in Goshen, Brett was the son of the late Alvin L. Denney and Kathleen (Small) Denney, who survives. He was a 1976 graduate of Warsaw Community High School where he relished in the adventures of growing up with his brothers’ unparalleled loyalty and was surrounded by a most special kinship of family and adolescence friendships.
On Feb. 15, 1992, Brett was married to Mary Rhodes. The pair shared 30 years together before his death Sunday morning. They also shared five children and seven grandchildren.
Brett loved and was exceptionally proud of his grandchildren and family. His passion was to support and provide for his family; he was always cooking Sunday breakfast, coaching his children’s teams, doctoring up injuries and reassuring with a simple wink, smile and a pat on the back. The hobbies he shared were fishing, boating, bowling, throwing darts, shooting pool, singing karaoke and playing Texas hold’em. Furthermore, Brett was a dedicated member of the Syracuse Eagles and Sons of the American Legion, Post 222.
In addition to his wife, Mary Denney, North Webster, those who survive with memories to cherish include five children, Keven Denney, Lafayette, Pam Carlin (Courtney Knisley), Fort Wayne, Mike Denney, serving an overseas tour with the U.S. Marine Corp in Iwakuni, Japan, Jess Brown, Milford and Nick (Alisha) Denney, North Webster; seven grandchildren; three brothers, his twin Brian (Jill) Denney, Fort Wayne, Allen (Nancy) Denney, Warsaw and Mark (Tina) Denney, Hillsdale, Mich.; and mother, Kathleen Denney, Fort Wayne. A twin himself, Brett was elated to be welcoming a pair of twin grandsons to the family due this December.
Titus Funeral Homes is entrusted with Brett’s care through Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster. A Life Celebration is being held for Brett from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at North Webster American Legion, Post 253, 756 S. Main St, North Webster.
