Milford Public Library — LEGO Saturday Happening This Week
News Release
MILFORD — Join Milford Public Library the first Saturday of every month for LEGO Saturday, which takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 5, in the meeting room downstairs. Children can design and create original structures or make a creation that fits the monthly theme in order to be entered to win a LEGO prize. November’s LEGO Crew Challenge theme is pie.
Fancy Meeting You ‘Hair’
Fall Story Times are happening now. In-person story times take place at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays and are geared for children ages 3-6. This is a great opportunity to expose your children to the joy of reading, plus fun arts and crafts activities and a weekly snack. Story times happen downstairs in the meeting room across from the children’s department.
I “mustache” you a question: how do you look with facial hair? Well, now you can find out. This week’s story time theme is “Hair, Hair Everywhere!” and they will be reading silly stories about fun facial hair and even trying on some fake mustaches. Register for story time in the children’s department because you do not want to miss this week’s silly story time.
Also, this week at story time, they will be passing out recipe sheets for you to take home. In the coming weeks, they will be asking story time families to share their family favorite recipes with the group, so be thinking about which recipes you’d like to share with others. Write your recipe on the recipe sheet and plan to bring it with you to the story time Nov. 9.
Knitting Club
Did you know that Milford Public Library hosts a knitting club twice a month? Knitting can be a fantastic way to relax inside during the winter months or create handmade gifts for the holidays. If you have ever wanted to learn how to knit, or if you need some extra accountability to finish a project you’ve been working on, why not join the knitting club at the library?
The MPL knitting club meets from 1:30-3:30 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of every month in the teen area of the library (comfortable seating area on the north side of the upper level). All age and skill levels are encouraged to attend and there is no library card needed. Just show up with a project. This month’s knitting club dates are Nov. 3 and 17.
If you are unable to attend the knitting club but are still interested in learning to knit, check out the many books available. They have books that teach a variety of knitting styles and patterns.
Want to try knitting but don’t want to make a huge investment or commitment? Why not try arm knitting — no needles required. Learn how with “DK’s Arm Knitting” book.
How about your kids? Do they want to learn yarn crafts? Check out “Kids Knitting” by Melanie Falick, available in the children’s department. And if these books don’t sound interesting, there are many more to choose from, both at MPL and through Evergreen.
Closed For Staff Training
The Milford Public Library will be closed Friday, Nov. 4, for staff training. No late fines will be accrued for that day. They will reopen at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. Sorry for any inconvenience.
