Here’s An Updated List Of Halloween Activities
WARSAW — There are plenty of events for all the little (and bigger) ghosts and goblins to enjoy this weekend leading up to Halloween and on the holiday itself.
Below is an updated list of community events.
Akron
- Trick-or-treat times in Akron are 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
- Judging for the Henry Township Fire Department’s costume contest starts at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the fire station.
- Hartzler’s Halloween Bash is 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St. There will be a trunk or treat, games and free hot dogs and drinks. Everyone is welcome to come.
Atwood
- The Atwood Fire Department will have a haunted house and trick-or-treat from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.
- Otterbein United Methodist Church will host a trunk or treat in their parking lot from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, as well as have hot chocolate and doughnuts in the fellowship hall.
Claypool
- Trunk-or-treat in Claypool is set for 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31. There are no door-to-door trick-or-treat hours for the town.
Etna Green
- Trick-or-treating in Etna Green will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.
- The Lions Club of Etna Green will hold its annual “Hayride and Hot Dogs” event at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Free hot dogs and hot chocolate will be available.
Leesburg
- Leesburg’s trick-or-treat hours are 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
Mentone
- Trick-or-treating in Mentone is set for 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
- Judging for the Mentone Chamber of Commerce’s costume contest starts at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at Mentone Elementary School.
Milford
- Milford’s trick-or-treat times are 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
- Kosciusko Masonic Lodge 418 located in Milford is having a trunk or treat from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. It will be in the lodge’s parking lot at 404 W. Syracuse St.
Nappanee
- Trail & Treats is 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Oakland Avenue in Nappanee. The event will celebrate the reopening of bike and walking trail with lights and new art. There will be trick-or-treating, a glow-in-the-dark scavenger hunt, a Where’s Waldo search, a flashlight walk through the woods, an Elkhart Symphony section, a Scout cabin open house and campfire, a nature center open house and food.
- Trick-or-treating in Nappanee is set for 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
- The American Legion will have a trunk-or-treat from 5-6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.
- Kids may trick-or-treat inside the Nappanee Boys & Girls Club, 900 E. Centennial St., from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, and meet “The Mad Scientist.”
- Kids may participate in the Room on the Broom Storywalk from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at Nappanee Elementary School, 755 E. Van Buren St. They will listen to a Halloween story as they walk around the school and can then spin a wheel to get a prize.
- The Nappanee Parks and Recreation Department has the “Cute & Creepy Costume Contest,” starting at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, in the Boys & Girls Club, 900 E. Centennial St. People are asked to sign up their child before the contest as there are limited spots available. That may be done by clicking the link here.
North Webster
- The North Webster Community Center is hosting “Haunted Halls” from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Bring your kids to NWCC for Halloween, where you’ll find many local businesses and families who are excited to have a great time together. The center is welcoming all businesses that don’t usually have trick-or-treaters to set up an area in the center to host a safe trick-or-treat for the community’s children. - North Webster Church of God, 302 N. Main St., has a trunk or treat from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. There will also be food and games. It’s free, but people are asked to register ahead of time, which may be done by clicking here.
- Trick-or-treating is 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, in North Webster.
- Tippecanoe Township Fire Territory has its open house and costume contest from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31. The contest is open to ages 12 and younger.
Pierceton
- Pierceton’s trick-or-treat times are set for 5-7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
Silver Lake
- Trick-or-treating in Silver Lake is 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
- The town and the Silver Lake Lions Club will have “Halloween Happenings” from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at Memory Park one block south of the stoplight on SR 15. Treats will be handed out to all the kids while supplies last.
Syracuse
- The inaugural Creature Crawl is a non-timed 5K fun run/one-mile walk for all ages and families on, Saturday, Oct. 29. The event is sponsored by the Syracuse Parks and Recreation Department and the Wawasee cross-country teams. Costumes are encouraged. People can register at the Syracuse Community Center. The cost is $25 for the 5K run and $15 for the walk. Check-in and day-of-race registration will take place at 4 p.m., with the run beginning at 5 p.m. and the walk at 5:10 p.m.
- Trick-or-Treat Trail in the Park is set for 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Lakeside Park. This is a free and safe trick-or-treating event for the community. Local businesses, organizations, agencies, churches, nonprofits and civic groups will hand out candy and treats to kids. If you or your organization would like to participate in the event, call the Syracuse Community Center at (574) 457-3440. Event parking is available at the community center, 1013 N. Long Drive, Syracuse.
- Syracuse will have trick-or-treating from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
- The Syracuse Public Library will have its trick-or-treat program from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, in the children’s department. During those hours, kids may enter the Wonderful World of Oz and meet its characters and find sweet treats. To prepare for the event, the children’s department will be closed the entire day of Oct. 31, and the rest of the library will close at 5 p.m.
Warsaw
- Zombies Alive is 8-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through the end of the month at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds. People may pay $10 to shoot paintballs at the zombies. That pays for the gun and 100 paintballs. VIP tickets are available for $20, which pay for an automatic rapid fire gun and one reload. Group rates are available for 10 or more people at a cost of $9 per person.
- Main Street Warsaw is having Spooktakular on Friday, Oct. 28, in downtown Warsaw. Costume contest registration for the event starts at 5:30 p.m., with trick-or-treating from 6-7 p.m. and the costume contest starting at 7 p.m.
- Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital is hosting the Freaky 5K Family Halloween Run-Walk on Saturday, Oct. 29, to benefit the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund. The race starts at K21 Health Services Pavilion, 1515 Provident Drive, Warsaw, at 9:15 a.m. and is a timed event open to racers, runners and walkers. Participants are welcome to get in the Halloween spirit by running in costume. Prizes will be given to the top finishers and favorite costumes. People may register onsite the day of from 8-9 a.m. for $30.
- Retired Tigers residents will be passing out candy from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. The apartment complex is located at 320 W. Main. St., Warsaw.
- Warsaw’s trick-or-treat hours will be 5:30-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
Winona Lake
- Grace College hosts its 32nd annual FunFest from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the Gordon Health and Wellness Center, 100 Publishers Drive, Winona Lake. This year’s theme is “Under the Sea.” Children are invited to dress up in the theme or in a costume of their choosing and enjoy fun activities.
- The Winona Lake Parks Department is putting on the new event Trick-or-Treat on the Trails on Saturday, Oct. 29, in partnership with the Warsaw Community Public Library and Parkview Warsaw YMCA. From 3-5 p.m., kids can pick up goodies starting at Winona Lake Limitless Park and then throughout the town’s greenway system. Following that from 5-7 p.m. at WLLP, there will be s’mores, a bonfire, storytelling and the playing of the TV special “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”
- Winona Lake’s trick-or-treat hours will be 5:30-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
