Staff Report
WARSAW — A Burket woman was recently arrested after allegedly stealing over $1,500 worth of items from a man’s home.
Jaimee Nichole Marshall, 26, 204 W. Center St., Burket, is charged with theft and theft with a prior conviction, both level 6 felonies; and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
On Aug. 26, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy investigated a theft report after a man told police he allowed Marshall to stay at his home in exchange for her cleaning it.
According to court documents, upon returning to his home on Aug. 25, the man found his residence in disarray. Video from the residence’s front door camera showed Marshall leaving the home with a duffel bag in her possession. The man discovered several items were stolen from his home, including a Samsung Galaxy A10 phone, an Xbox One, an Amazon Alexa device, a watch, and a flash attachment for a Nikon camera. The combined value of the items stolen was $1,550.
After identifying the missing items, the man contacted Marshall and asked her to return what she stole. He gave Marshall one day to return his property, but she failed to do so.
A county deputy attempted to contact Marshall, who responded but indicated she didn’t believe the deputy was a real law enforcement officer.
Marshall was previously convicted of theft in Kosciusko County in July 2017.
For this case, Marshall was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 18.
