Heavy Snow, Tree Limbs Down Power Lines Across Lakes Region

WARSAW — An early blast of winter weather across parts of northern Kosciusko County is being credited with power outages in the county’s northeast corner.
The National Weather Service north of North Webster received 2.7 inches of snow Monday night, Oct. 17, as an intense but short-lived snow band stretching from Goshen to North Webster moved east, according to meteorologist Mark Frazier.
NIPSCO is crediting strong winds, wet snow and sleet for the outages in the areas of North Webster, Milford and Syracuse.
NIPSCO reported electric service to approximately 7,900 customers had been restored, but 4,700 customers in Goshen, North Webster and Syracuse are currently without power.
As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, REMC reported a few hundred customers were still without power.
