Wayne K. Baker
Wayne K. Baker, 91, of rural Mentone, passed at 12:30 pm, Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital of Warsaw.
Wayne was born on April 6, 1931, in Mentone, to the late Joseph and Clara Eve (King) Baker. He married on Nov. 25, 1951, in Mentone United Methodist Church to Bonnie L. Reese.
He was a graduate of Talma High School in 1949. He then furthered his education at Coyne Electrical & Radio Electronics of Chicago. Wayne then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954.
Wayne was a farmer and drove for the Mentone EMS for many years. He also owned and operated Bakers Electronics. Lastly retired from the United States Postal Service after 21 years as a mail carrier. He attended the Bethlehem Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126 both of Warsaw. He enjoyed electronics and antique cameras.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Baker of Mentone; children Michael and wife Marsha Baker of Auburndale, Fla., Dennis and wife Alisa Baker of Mentone, Patty and husband Rick Francissen of Davenport, Fla., Rob and wife Kelly Baker of Mentone; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister Linda Murphy of Silver Lake.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Don A. Baker.
The funeral service will take place at 2:00 pm, Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, at King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, Indiana with Pastor Phil Pratt officiating.
The interment will take place in the Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green, with graveside military honors performed by the American Legion of Warsaw.
Visitation hours will be from 6 pm to 8 pm, Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
