Dillon Anthony Prater
Dillon Anthony Prater, 29, rural Akron, died surrounded by his family at 7:13 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at his residence in Akron.
Dillon was born Sept. 25, 1993, in Peru, to Anthony W. and Jennifer J.(Malott) Prater. He was a 2012 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School, where he was the manager of the football team. He loved watching sports. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, University of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball and Chicago Cubs. Dillon always kept up with all the stats and records. He also enjoyed traveling with his family. Some of his favorite trips were riding UTV’s and especially going to Florida. Dillon had many close friends that he cherished. He will be missed by his beloved companion, his dog Benny Jo Prater. But most of all he loved to spend time with his niece Collins. They watched all of her favorite TV shows together.
He is survived by his parents, Anthony and Jennifer, Akron; brothers, Dakota Prater and Dalton Prater, both of Akron; maternal grandparents, John and Connie Malott, Akron; paternal great-grandmother, Hazel Howes; a very special niece, Collins, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Windle and Brenda Sue Prater; maternal great-grandparents, Carmel and Opal Manns; and paternal great-grandfather, Clayton Howes.
The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Shannon Mills officiating.
The interment will follow the service in the Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Visitation hours will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. The family requests that everyone in attendance wear their fan apparel to the visitation in honor of Dillon.
Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Henry Township Volunteer Fire Dept.
