Searchers Scour Winona Lake After Report Of Man In Water

WINONA LAKE — Rescuers were continuing to look for a man who was seen in the water just south of the Winona Lake beach on Tuesday morning, Sept. 13.
Dispatchers were alerted around 9:30 a.m. about a man who took off some of his clothes and walked into the lake from a residential property.
Rescue crews included four boats and two divers in the water.
The search began in foggy conditions and low visibility around 10 a.m. with temperatures in the mid-50s.
Winona Lake Police Chief Joe Hawn confirmed they were looking for a man and that they know his identity.
Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory began the search by launching at least two boats from the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds boat launch.
Also responding were Lutheran EMS, Winona Lake Fire Department and Winona Lake Police and Warsaw police departments.
