Elsie M. Platz

Elsie M. Platz, 88, Warsaw, died at 7:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor. She was born Nov. 29, 1933, in Wheatfield, to William E. and Eva (Freel) Van Dusen. On Oct. 1, 1955, she married Everell L. Platz, and he died Nov. 27, 2007.

Surviving are a son, Randy (Beth) Platz, Warsaw; daughter, Dianna (Ron) Witham, Goshen; grandchildren, Jeff (Rachael) Witham, Bryan (Tracy) Witham, Matt Witham, Aimee (Platz) McDermat and Colin Platz; nine great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Ivy, Shelly, Charles, Autumn, Myia, Coal, Parker and Evan; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eva Brewster, Valparaiso; and a daughter-in-law,

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Everell; son, Ron; and siblings, Joyce Risso and William Van Dusen.

Elsie was a seamstress who worked at Ivy Terrace, Jone Furniture and retired from Weiland Design, Goshen. She had a strong faith as a Christian woman and attended Lifepoint Church, Goshen. Elsie loved to garden. In 2010, her home was on the Master Gardening Tour. Elsie especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was musically gifted and enjoyed playing guitar and piano.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, with the service following at 4 p.m., all at Rieth Rohrer Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen.
