Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:
- 3:39 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, South SR 15, south of West CR 800S, Claypool. Driver: Joanna C. Manns, 62, West CR 1275S, Akron. Manns was traveling north on SR 15 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 9:20 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, South Huntington Street, south of West Pickwick Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Ross Stichter, 32, West CR 1250N, Milford; and Larry D. Stoner, 78, West CR 200N, Cromwell. Stichter was turning into a parking lot when he hit Stoner’s vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
- 1:17 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 1 Warrior Path, Syracuse. Driver: Andrew M. Turner, 17, West First Street, Milford. Turner was backing his vehicle from a parking space when he hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage under $750.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 4:53 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, East Center Street, east of North Park Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Aiyana I. Perales, 19, North Henry Street, Milford; Ayden L. Sherman, 19, East CR 350N, Warsaw; and Peggy J. Taylor, 66, North Parks Schram Road, Warsaw. Perales was traveling west on East Center Street when she rear-ended Sherman’s vehicle, which was stopped in westbound traffic for a red light. The impact resulted in Sherman’s vehicle rear-ending Taylor’s. Perales sustained minor injuries to her upper right leg but refused treatment at the scene. Sherman sustained a small bruise on his right forearm and also refused treatment. Damage up to $25,000.
- 3:36 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, US 30, east of Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Brant A. Jones, 44, West CR 200N, Hartford City; Jason E. Smedley, 51, West CR 700N, Larwill; Christopher J. Foreman, 36, East CR 300N, Warsaw; Jose E. Juarez Chavez, 45, South Hunters Ridge, Warsaw; Joanne H. Richards, 82, Tanager Lane, Petaluma, Calif.; and Jose Lorenzo, 57, East 137th Street, Hammond. Jones was driving a fully loaded dump truck west on US 30 when he rear-ended Smedley’s vehicle. Foreman attempted to swerve his vehicle into the right lane to avoid hitting Smedley’s vehicle when he was also hit by Jones’ vehicle. Juarez Chavez’s vehicle was also rear-ended by Jones’ vehicle after Jones’ vehicle hit Smedley’s and Foreman’s. Juarez Chavez’s vehicle then rear-ended Richards’ vehicle, which rear-ended Lorenzo’s vehicle. Jones complained of right hand pain at the scene. A passenger in Smedley’s vehicle, Laura E. Smedley, 50, Larwill, sustained a minor cut under her nose. Both of the Smedleys also said they had chest pain. Juarez Chavez complained of right shoulder pain. No one was taken to a hospital following the accident. Damage up to $100,000.
- 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1500 Provident Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Jacob A. Rucker, 21, Rozella Road, Warsaw. Rucker was backing his vehicle from a parking space when he hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 4:21 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, Kings Highway, near Jefferson Drive, Winona Lake. Drivers: Darin J. Hoke, 52, 5th Street, New Paris; and Jeri D. Purdy, 38, Terrace Drive, Winona Lake. Hoke was turning left onto Jefferson Drive when the school bus he was driving hit Purdy’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
