WARSAW — The Warsaw Board of Works has approved an agreement for the remodel of Central Lake Pavilion.
At its meeting on Friday, Sept. 2, at Warsaw City Hall, the board approved the agreement with CME Corp. out of Fort Wayne.
“We had given CME an early notice to proceed so we’ve actually already had a pre-construction meeting, and they are anxious to start work next week,” said Warsaw City Engineer Aaron Ott before the agreement was approved.
Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer inquired about the project’s time span.
“(The agreement) is showing 350 days … as the length of the work. And you just suggested that you gave them a notice to proceed last month, so the clock would start when they began?” asked Thallemer.
“Yeah, I believe that’s the way they look at it as well as the way we would look at that,” said Ott. “They needed that to go ahead and issue subcontracts to the rest of their team and to be able to start purchasing of the materials and such, so therefore the clock would’ve started for things then technically.”
Ott said he would provide a status report to leaders regarding the project.
Zimmer Biomet is donating $2.5 million for the pavilion project via its foundation. ZB Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Adam Griner presented a check for $2 million of that amount to the city at the meeting, with the rest to be given later.
