WARSAW — A Warsaw man was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital after a vehicle accident early Thursday morning.
At 1:53 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle accident on East CR 250N, east of North CR 100E, Warsaw.
Damien W. Petersen, 32, Warsaw, was driving a gray 2017 Dodge Challenger east on CR 250N. He told officers that upon approaching the “T” intersection at CR 250N and CR 100E, he failed to stop at a stop sign.
Petersen’s vehicle proceeded through the intersection and left the roadway on the east side of CR 100E. Petersen’s vehicle then hit a utility pole, drove through a soybean field and overturned several times before coming to a rest on its wheels.
Petersen was able to get out of the car; however, two other people were seen running from the scene by witnesses. The two individuals were never located.
Petersen said he only remembered the collision and could not provide a further description. Officers completed a portable breath test on Petersen, which registered a 0.121 BrAC.
Petersen was flown by air ambulance to Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital with unknown injuries.
Responding agencies include Warsaw Police Department, Winona Lake Police Department, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Lutheran EMS, and Lutheran Air.
Damages are estimated at up to $50,000.
