WARSAW — Matt Dick is running for a seat on Warsaw Community Schools’ Board of Trustees.
Dick, who formerly served on Warsaw’s school board for two terms from 2010 to 2018, has filed candidacy paperwork for the board’s District One seat. For seven of the eight years he was on the board, Dick served as vice-president for the Board of Trustees.
The District One seat is currently held by Mike Coon, who is not seeking re-election. Tom Westerhof has also filed for Coon’s seat.
Dick graduated from Grace College with a major in business education. He has worked at Silveus Insurance Group since 2002.
Dick is married to Nicole Ryman-Dick, who teaches sixth grade at Washington STEM Academy and has 29 years of experience at WCS. Nicole and Matt have two daughters, Maddie and Kensington; and a son, Jeremy. All three of Matt and Nicole’s children graduated from Warsaw Community Schools.
“If fortunate enough to be elected again, the people of District One will know they are getting a conservative voice to represent them along with someone who is passionate about representing teachers, parents and students at the highest level,” said Dick in a statement to InkFreeNews. “In my previous eight years on the board I learned the value of being a voice that is willing to challenge, while also learning the importance of being a team player. My wife is a teacher, my parents were teachers, my in-laws were teachers, my oldest daughter is an education major and I was an education major as well. I have the utmost respect for the profession and am excited for the opportunity and chance to potentially serve in this role once more.”
