WARSAW — How films are made and released has changed over the past few years due to the pandemic.
Some films are still released into theaters while others are released only to various streaming services. Films are also released on DVD and Blu-ray earlier than in the past. Here are some newly released films on DVD that I recommend watching.
“Downton Abbey: A New Era” is a historical drama film; it is also the sequel to the 2019 film “Downton Abbey.” The cinematic return of the global phenomenon reunites the beloved cast as they go on a grand journey to southern France to uncover the mystery of the Dowager Countess’ newly inherited villa. If you’re a fan of “Downton Abbey,” you’ll love this.
“Studio 666” is horror-comedy that stars Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Foo Fighters. They move into an Encino mansion steeped in gruesome rock history to record their much-anticipated 10th album. Once in the house, front man Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band. This film is rated R. If you don’t like grisly horror, then this isn’t for you.
“The Bob’s Burger Movie” is an animated, big-screen, musical comedy-mystery-adventure based on the long-running series “Bob’s Burgers.” The film features Bob and Linda working together to salvage their livelihood as a giant sinkhole threatens to envelop their hamburger restaurant. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family’s restaurant.
“Everything Everywhere All At Once” is my current favorite film. When an interdimensional rupture unravels reality, an unlikely hero must channel her newfound powers to fight bizarre and bewildering dangers from the multiverse as the fate of the world hangs in the balance.
