Alberta Wamsley — UPDATED
Alberta Wamsley, 86, Warsaw, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
She was born March 1, 1936, in Bonnie Blue, Va., the daughter of (the late) Stallard and Edith (Moore) McNutt and graduated from Mississinewa High School with the Class of ’54.
Alberta was a member of Scared Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening and quilting. She retired as an administrative assistant from Zimmer Biomet and afterwards became the founder and owner of the Thorn Tree Hill Herb Farm, having earned her Master Gardener certificate from Purdue University.
Alberta is survived by her children, George Edward Timmons, Kelly (Kimmi) Timmons and Shelly Timmons, all of Warsaw; grandchildren, Carrie Ann Timmons, Kendallville, Ashley (Shawn) Black, Winona Lake, Amarae Dilley, Warsaw, Kayn Dilley, Warsaw and Amanda (Barbara) Chipps, Kokomo; and great-grandchildren, Hayley Timmons, North Webster, Laney Dilley, Kaysen Dilley and Gracie Black, all of Warsaw, Katie Bloom, Winona Lake and McCoy Chipps, Kokomo.
In addition to her parents, Alberta was also preceded in death by her brother, Lorin McNutt; her sister, Watheta McNutt; and nephew, Kent McNutt.
Mass of Christian Resurrection will be held at 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 135 N. Harrison St., Warsaw.
Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. Friday in the church. Private burial will be held at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Arrangements are through McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.
The family’s preferred memorial is Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
