Arbutus McCane
Arbutus McCane, 75, rural Rochester, died quietly at 10:41 p.m. Aug. 12, 2022, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. Her family was by her side.
Arbutus Irene Konkle, or Arby, as most knew her, was born June 27, 1947, in Warsaw. She spent her formative years in the Mentone area, graduating from Mentone High School with the class of 1965. That same year, on April 7, she was united in marriage to Wendell E. McCane. The pair shared more than 45 years together before his passing in 2010.
Arby was a fun-loving and family-loving person; she loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. She is remembered for her cooking, especially for her chicken casserole, cinnamon rolls, cream pie and many other things. She enjoyed sewing, going to auctions and spending time in her gardens. She was a longtime member of Westside Apostolic Church, Rochester, and had great faith in the Lord.
Those who survive with broken hearts include her two children, Devon (Kassie) McCane, Rochester and Kiscia (Dave) Harshman, Rochester; and five grandchildren, Keyonna (Jay) Tobias, Lexington, N.C., Bree (Charles) Keumin, Rochester, Colton McCane, Rochester, Karlee Harshman, Rochester and Jakob Harshman, Rochester. She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Gloria) Lynwood Konkle. In addition to her husband, Wendell McCane, she was preceded in passing by her parents.
A Life Celebration is entrusted to Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. Friends may gather there from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022. Arby’s Life Celebration funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19. Pastor Steve Addison of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
