Oren Norman
Oren D. Norman, 90, rural Akron, died at 7:44 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at LifeCare Center, Rochester.
Oren was born July 2, 1932, in Macy, to the late Jesse and Judel (Alspach) Norman. He was married on July 11, 1953, in Athens, to Ruth E. Fletcher; she survives.
He was a 1950 graduate of Gilead High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Army as Military Police. Oren had worked, in earlier years, for Sonoco Product Company, Akron. But his life was spent as a farmer. He enjoyed many facets of farming. He milked, raised beef cattle and grain, all while using Massey Harris/Massey Ferguson equipment. He was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. He also served his community on the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation Holding Board.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruth Norman, Akron; daughter, Becky (Gordon) Rust, Seymour; sons Richard Norman, Mike Norman and Arthur (Melissa) Norman, all of Akron; granddaughters, Leslie Rust and Hailee Norman; daughter-in-law, Leisa Norman, Mentone; a brother, Roy Norman, Warsaw; and several nieces and nephews.
Oren was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters; and six brothers.
The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2022, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Rev. Wayne Balmer officiating.
The interment will take place in the Akron Cemetery, Akron, with graveside military rites performed by the Fulton County Honor Guard.
Visitation hours will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
