Philip Louis Blais passed away unexpectedly at 9:25 a.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at his residence in Warsaw, at the age of 72.
He was born on Feb. 7, 1950, in South Bend. He was one of five children born to Marva Jean (Rood) Blais and Robert Louis Blais.
He graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School in Muskegon, Mich., in 1968. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after high school and proudly served for eight years until his honorable discharge in 1976. He was an intelligent and outgoing man who continued his education at San Diego State University and graduated in 1978 with a degree in computer science. He had a notable career in Computer Engineering at NCR, Johnson Controls and later ITT in San Diego. He eventually transferred to Fort Wayne, with ITT and retired in 2010.
He moved to Kosciusko County and loved living a nice, quiet, secluded life in Warsaw for the past 15 years. He always kept busy with a multitude of hobbies, including model trains, airplanes, woodworking and was a notable trap shooter. He was a very competitive cribbage player and could make a mean gin and tonic. He was always a good sport and enjoyed his retirement on his little piece of heaven in Warsaw with his wife, Diana Ruth (Bolanos) Blais. They were married on Nov. 26, 2010, and were blessed with 11 years together before he passed away. He loved his children and grandchildren and had a loving heart. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Diana Ruth Blais, Warsaw; three daughters: Karin Blais, Arvada, Colo.; Kristin Blais (Fredrik Roaldset), Oslo, Norway; and Bri Andersen, Ogden, Utah; two sons: Jeff Blais, Camarillo, Calif.; and Ryan Blais, San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren: Hannah, Nora, Maya and Veda; three brothers: Jim (Ann) Blais, Spring Lake, Mich.; Bob (Cindy) Blais, Seattle, Wash.; and Paul (Ann) Blais, Cle Elum, Wash.; and his sister: Marva Ann Blais, Traverse City, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services will be held at a later date and he will be buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Muskegon, Mich.
