Janice Ann Stayer
Janice Ann Stayer, Warsaw, passed away peacefully at 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne, at the age of 75 after a lengthy illness.
She was born on Oct. 12, 1946, in Warsaw, to Delbert and Annabelle (Cartwright) Sievers. She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where she was a 1965 graduate of Pierceton High School.
On Feb. 26, 1978, she married the love of her life, Verlin Eugene Stayer, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Warsaw. They were blessed with 36 years of marriage together before he passed away on Nov. 15, 2014. She was a longtime member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where she enjoyed the fellowship of her church family.
She was a hard worker her entire life and was never afraid of trying out new things. Some of her jobs were as a janitor for Gilliam Lanes, Fox Products and New Bright Cleaning in Syracuse where she retired from in 2016. Her favorite job was simply being mom and later grandma and great-grandma. She loved spending time in her kitchen baking up delicious foods for her family. She looked forward to making pumpkin rolls with her niece, Missy, every year at Thanksgiving. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many. Her kind heart and smile will be dearly missed by all.
She leaves behind her daughter: Monda (Mark) Pherigo, Pierceton; step-daughter: Cheryl (Greg) Gearhart, Fulton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister: Connie Naish, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter: Brittney Pherigo; and her sister: Mary Long.
Janice’s life will be celebrated at noon Thursday, July 7, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Carolyn Kern. A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 10 a.m. to noon.
