WINONA LAKE – The town of Winona Lake has added a full-time police officer to its ranks.
Daniel Clemens, 36, was sworn in during a brief meeting of the Winona Lake Town Council Tuesday night, July 5.
He was sworn in by Town Attorney Adam Turner.
Clemens was previously an officer with the Warsaw Police Department. He’s been a reserve with Winona Lake and Claypool Police Departments.
Clemens’ wife and four children attended the ceremony. They live in Claypool where he works for Louis Dreyfus Company.
The addition brings the police department back to being fully staffed with six officers.
Town Marshal Joe Hawn recommended the town waive the probationary period since he’s already been working with the department. That also allows Clemens to begin at the normal starting pay rate.
