LEESBURG — Lake Tippecanoe residents turned out for the annual Fourth of July Flotilla, held Saturday afternoon, July 2. This year 10 boats registered to participate. The event is sponsored by the Lake Tippecanoe Property Owners Association.
Cara Dyksen and her crew took second place in the Lake Tippecanoe Flotilla Saturday afternoon, July 2.
This year’s winners were: Quinn Roe, first place; Cara Dyksen with her boat decorated as Animaniacs, second place; and Bruce and Cheryl Hardy with their boat decorated in a “Looney” theme, third place.
Other participants were: Erika Fowler with her boat decorated as “Characters gone Kiddie! Kid drawn Looney”; Julie Thomas with a “Space Jam” theme; Jacob Rockey, with a Yosemite Sam and Bugs Bunny theme; Lonnie Perry with a tribute to Tweety Bird; Emily Sumner with a USA theme; Steve Nelson also a Space Jam theme; Chris and Jennifer Barten Bach with a patriotic balloon arch.
Dan Drook, Flotilla organizer, said the Lake Tippy Flotilla has been held for over 20 years. He took over organizing it about 12 years ago. “It’s fun,” he said. Themes for the flotilla are usually selected from a family friendly theme, highlighting a special holiday or a special event such as the Olympics.
Third place winners in the Lake Tippecanoe Flotilla were Bruce and Cheryl Hardy and their “Looney” crew.
Awards are given out for first, second and third place while each participant also receive an award for participating.
