WARSAW — A new men’s hair salon has opened in Warsaw.
The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce had a ribbon-cutting for Sport Clips Haircuts, located at 562 W. 300N, on Tuesday, June 28, the day of its grand opening
The business, part of a national chain, aims to cater to men’s hairstyling and grooming, said the owner of the Warsaw location, Shaun Norton.
He owns 20 locations, including five in Indiana.
“I’ve always came up here for the lakes, and I’ve always been boating up here, so I’ve always known Warsaw, and when this site came available, it just seemed like a really good fit for us,” he said.
“We specialize in shorter men’s haircuts,” said Norton. He added that women are welcome to get their hair done as well if they have shorter hair.
“Our signature service is our MVP, which is a precision haircut, with hot steam towel, massaging shampoo and a neck and shoulder massage,” he said.
“We also have our new Ultimate MVP, we just started … which is basically the haircut … (plus) we do two steam towels and two massaging shampoos and (a) double neck and shoulder massage,” he said.
Little boys are welcome to get their hair done as well. TVs are situated around the salon, including in the waiting area, for viewing.
“We have five TVs that will constantly have sports playing and it’ll be ESPN and … we prefer to have a game on at all times,” he said.
Pauline Pryor works as what is known as a “coach” for Sport Clips, helping stylists at different locations with additional training.
“So even after you have graduated from beauty school, we continue on with that, with all types of advanced classes … because new stuff comes out all the time,” she said.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Sport Clips is centered around walk-ins, so guys don’t have to set up appointments.
They can check in either by using the Sport Clips app on an Apple or Android device or going to sportclips.com/checkin. Wait times are also listed there.
“I hope (customers) come in and they get the MVP experience,” said Norton. “So it’s like no other haircut they’ve ever had because they walk in, they get the hot towel, and I hope they walk in and feel semi-good … (but) when they walk out, they feel perfect and they feel great. That’s always the goal.”
Norton added he hopes the business becomes more part of the community through it sponsoring some local sports teams.
