One Killed In US 30 Collision Wednesday Afternoon

WARSAW — One person died in a two-vehicle accident on US 30 Wednesday afternoon.
Shortly after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, Atwood Fire Department responded to a report of an accident on US 30, east of the intersection at North CR 500W, involving a white SUV and a white semi-tractor.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. The name has not been released.
The accident happened in a construction zone in which east-west traffic was routed onto the normal westbound lanes.
Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory was also called to assist with heavy extrication equipment. A medical helicopter was initially dispatched but was later disregarded by emergency personnel at the scene.
Traffic in the eastbound and westbound lanes of US 30, which is currently undergoing road construction, were both stopped while the accident was reconstructed.

Also assisting at the scene were Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, and Indiana State Police.
