WARSAW — Two electric vehicle charging stations should be coming to Warsaw later this year.
At its meeting on Friday, June 17, at Warsaw City Hall, the Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety approved a quote of $24,000 for S/T Bancroft Electric to put the stations in downtown Warsaw.
Assistant City Planner Bekah Schrag presented the information before the board, mentioning that the city had received a grant to help put them in.
“Back in 2020, the city committed to adopting these stations through the Indiana Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust Program, and MACOG (Michiana Area Council of Governments) has administered the grant application and has been providing technical support through the whole process,” she said.
The stations are to go “on the north side of the courthouse, right near the intersection of Buffalo and Main Street” and “in the city parking lot at the corner of Jefferson and Buffalo right near Expressions,” she said.
The agreement calls for a “construction deadline of October of this year so they are operational by the end of 2022,” said Schrag.
In other business, the board:
- Approved a request from Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory Chief Garrett Holderman for WWFT to purchase a 2023 Smeal/Spartan rescue pumper. The WWFT Board previously approved making the purchase.
The board’s next meeting is 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 1, at Warsaw City Hall.
