Dog Attack
Dear Editor,
A child was bitten by a dog. The dog was in its yard and tethered when the child entered the area where the dog was. The child petted the dog and proceeded to the door when the dog turned to bite the child. The mother of the child had gone to get food and the assumption is that the father was in the trailer where they lived when the child was in the neighbor’s yard, according to the InkFreeNews article.
The owners of the dog had asked the neighbors to not let their children enter the yard. Now the animal is possibly going to be euthanized. I have to ask the question: what was a four-year-old child doing outside the house at 7 p.m., wandering around the neighborhood without any supervision. Who is really accountable here?
I do not condone the actions of the animal, however, the dog was tethered in its own yard and a dog is protective of its area by instinct.
