Warsaw Man Faces Five Charges After Allegedly Battering Woman
Staff Report

WARSAW — A Warsaw man with a prior battery conviction was recently arrested on five charges after allegedly battering a woman.
Nicky Lee Blair, 43, 340 E. Levi Lee Road Lot 202, Warsaw, is charged with criminal confinement, a level 5 felony; domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, intimidation, and domestic battery with a prior conviction – enhancement, all level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On April 25, a woman contacted the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office to report a battery. The woman said she was battered by Blair two days prior and was now at a friend’s home. A KCSO deputy went to the friend’s home to speak with the woman.
According to court documents, the woman said Blair was going to take her to a friend’s bonfire on April 23. Blair was driving fast, and the woman said something to him about his reckless driving, which allegedly caused Blair to go into a rage.
While driving erratically, Blair hit the left side of the woman’s head, pushed her head onto the vehicle’s dashboard, and grabbed her left arm. After the altercation, Blair stopped the vehicle and told the woman to get out. However, Blair held onto the woman’s arm and did not let her leave.
When they arrived at their destination, Blair pulled the woman’s hair and said he would kill her if she contacted law enforcement. He also told her that if she told anyone at the bonfire about what happened, he would snap her neck.
The KCSO deputy noticed bruising on the woman’s left arm and a small bruise on the left side of her neck. The deputy also watched a recording the woman made of Blair screaming at her during the incident.
The woman showed the deputy text messages and played voicemail messages she was sent from Blair. In the messages, Blair vacillates between being tearful and aggressive. In one voicemail, Blair admitted that the woman did not deserve the “physical s***” from April 23.
Blair was previously convicted of battery resulting in bodily injury in Kosciusko County.
At the time of this incident, he was also on pretrial release for domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury. The victim in that case is a different woman.
For this case, Blair was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on June 14, with a $16,000 surety and cash bond.
