Two Boaters Rescued At Shock Lake

NORTH WEBSTER — Two boaters were rescued from boats on Shock Lake, on CR 850E, today, Tuesday afternoon.

One boat capsized while the stern of the other boat sank on Shock Lake this afternoon. The two men were able to get on top of the capsized boat to await rescue.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory and Tippecanoe Township Fire Territory were called out around 2:06 p.m. after one boat took on water and began to sink and a second boat capsized on Shock Lake in the Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area.
Both men, one of whom did not know how to swim, were able to get on top of the capsized boat, approximately 200-300 feet east of the boat launch. No personal flotation devices were reported in their possession.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory used its airboat to rescue the two men. They were safely brought back to shore.
Assisting in the rescue were the Indiana State Police and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office. Indiana Conservation Officers Lt. Joh Kariss, Sgt. Ashlee Jackson and Officer Nathan Hooley responded to investigate the mishap.
No further information as to what occurred is available at this time.
