- June 27, 2006 — Roger Federer wins his record 42nd straight grass-court match, beating Richard Gasquet, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2, to open his bid for a fourth consecutive Wimbledon championship. Federer breaks the record he shared with Bjorn Borg, the five-time Wimbledon champion who won 41 straight matches on grass from 1976-1981.
- June 5, 1998 — Anaheim Angels manager Terry Collins and Kansas City Royals skipper Tony Muser were each suspended for eight games for a bench-clearing brawl during a June 2 game that resulted in 12 ejections.
- June 11, 1955 — A crash during the 24 Hours of Le Mans sent huge chunks of debris into the crowd, killing driver Pierre Bouillin and 83 spectators and injuring 178 more. The worst crash in motorsport history prompted major renovations to the 30-year-old racetrack.

- June 25, 1984 — Prince’s album “Purple Rain” sets a record when 1.3 million copies are sold in one day
- June 7, 1975 — Elton John’s — “Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy,” with the hit “Someone Saved My Life Tonight,” becomes the first album to debut at #1 in the U.S. It holds the top spot for seven (non-consecutive) weeks.
- June 29, 1974 — Neil Peart replaces John Rutsey as the drummer for Rush. Rutsey played on the band’s first album, but Peart plays on the next 18, joining Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson in one of the most venerable and productive partnerships in rock history.
- June 10, 1971 — During a performance by Jethro Tull at Red Rocks, 1,000 people without tickets broke through a police line to see the show. When police released tear gas, it drifted over the paying fans and the band, leading to a five-year ban on rock concerts at the famous venue
- June 1, 1968 — Simon & Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson” hits #1 on the Hot 100. The song was written for the movie “The Graduate “and titled after the character played by Anne Bancroft.
