Building Trades Students Partner With Habitat For Humanity
Press Release
WARSAW — Warsaw Area Career Center Building Trades students recently joined forces with Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County.
Their mission is to build for local families using local volunteers and contractors. When WACC students volunteered, they helped a local family make a life-chafing move to home ownership. Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
“I think it’s amazing that we are out here using our abilities and skills to give back to the community,” said WACC Building Trades student Dallas Lancaster to Ben Barkey, incoming WACC director and principal. “It’s going to be helpful to the owner of this house.”
“I think this is an excellent program,” said WACC Building Trades student Eduardo Escutia. “I’m glad to be able to help out with the trusses and help this community.”
Dennis Judy, construction manager with Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County for three years, appreciated having the WACC students onsite.
“It’s been an awesome day watching these students work and do quality work,” said Judy. “It has really sped us up and is moving us ahead of schedule; it’s more than we can do on our own with our regular volunteers.”
