70-Year-Old Arrested In Molestation Case
Staff Report
ROCHESTER — A 70-year-old Rochester man was recently arrested after allegedly molesting a child.
Dennis Gene Carroll, 70, 201 W. 9th St., Rochester, is charged with child molesting, a level 4 felony.
On Nov. 22, 2021, a Rochester Police officer received a report about a woman who said she was taking care of a child while custody is decided in court.
According to court documents, the woman said the child and Carroll have “always been super close.” The woman let the child stay with Carroll on Nov. 20, 2021. However, she didn’t hear any updates from Carroll on the child that day. The woman told the officer she found that odd, as Carroll always updates her on what they’re doing.
On Nov. 22, 2021, one of Carroll’s relatives called the woman and said Carroll appeared intoxicated when she talked with him. When the woman went to go pick up the child, there were no lights on in Carroll’s home. The woman also knocked on the residence’s door several times and received no answer.
Upon entering the home, the woman shouted Carroll’s name, to which Carroll allegedly replied, “Hold on, we are naked.” The woman found the child and Carroll naked, with the child sitting on Carroll’s lap. The woman grabbed the child’s clothes and left the home. While leaving, the child said Carroll inappropriately touched them.
The child had a forensic interview with a Department of Child Services worker on Nov. 24, 2021.
Officers had difficulty in contacting Carroll about the molestation.
Carroll was booked in the Fulton County Jail on May 18.
