Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Groninger Judd
Jacqueline J. “Jackie” Groninger Judd, 96, Warsaw, formerly of Akron, died at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Jackie was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Akron to the late Theodore “Ted” and Lucille (Leininger) Jontz. On Feb. 22, 1946, she married Otto L. Groninger. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1985. She married Charles “Gus” Judd Nov. 27, 1992; he also preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2011.
She was a 1942 graduate of Akron High School. Jackie was a homemaker and a wonderful mother to her three daughters. She was a longtime member of the Akron United Methodist Church. She was a Girl Scouts leader and a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved playing euchre and bridge. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed traveling, fishing, swimming and spending time at the lake. She loved Akron. Her family roots are very deep in Akron history.
She is survived by her daughters Debra (Lynn) Klotz, Leesburg, Shelly (Kim) Lewis, Warsaw and Peggy (Barry) Murphy, Rochester; grandchildren Monica, Paige, Mike, Abby, Tara, Bailey, Aiden, Angie, Donna, Mark, Travis and Adam; 26 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Kathy Groninger, Florida and brother-in-law Jim Harris, Logansport.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Otto and Gus, son-in-law Don Rich, and a sister Judy J. Harris.
The memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester St. Akron.
A private interment will be in the Akron Cemetery, Akron, alongside her husband Otto.
Memorial visitation will be held from 3—4 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
