PIERCETON — No one was injured after a barn caught fire outside Pierceton on Tuesday, May 17.
Pierceton Fire Chief Gordon Baker said firefighters were called out to the fire shortly before 7 p.m. at 6756 E. Old Road 30, Pierceton.
The fire was under control by about 7:30 p.m., Baker said. The cause of the fire was connected to “open burning on the back side” of the barn, he said.
A person was able to help get a dog out of a dog box from near the barn, said Baker.
Also responding to the scene were the Winona Lake Fire Department, Tippecanoe Township Fire Territory and Lutheran EMS.

Firefighters had to pull the barn down to help extinguish the fire.
